The staff were the best feature of the hotel: very friendly and accommodating. Some previous reviewers claimed the hotel is dated, however, it is just the style of the hotel, which some might like, others won't. You can tell that furnishings were recently replaced/renovated. The place was also very clean. Breakfast - which you can opt for at 12eur/person was diverse and tasty: eggs, bacon, ham and cheese cuts, cakes, fruit, fresh salad, cakes, bread, cereal, etc It is also very close to the main train station (5 minutes walk), from where you can take the Marconi express to the airport for a EUR20 return ticket (7 minutes each way).

The Zanhotel Europa is a beautiful "old-world" hotel that is tucked in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The train station was a 10-15 min walk, which was great for us, as we traveled from Bologna to Venice and Pisa while we stayed at the hotel. The hotel breakfast buffet was exceptional! Definitely worth purchasing that option. The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful and seemed to appreciate our being there. Hotel was a short walk away from the main part of Bologna's shops and restaurants.

- the location is great (walking distance from Piazza Maggiore) - very confortable beds, clean room, good looking bathroom (recent renovated) - normal facilities specific to a 4* hotel (luggage room, polite personnel, 24h reception). Nothing wow, but normal! - no pressure felt about anything (check in , check out, payment etc). - good breakfast (nothing extraordinary) at a better price at the reception desk then on Booking. Would go for this hotel if in Bologna again.

This is a high quality hotel in a location close to the train station. The room had a king size bed and a generous sized bathroom. The E12 buffet breakfast was excellent. My wife requires gluten free food (coeliac) and the options for breakfast were the best she’s experienced in ANY hotel. The staff were very helpful too. The city centre is about 1.2km away-a pleasant 15 minute walk, mostly along covered footpaths with Bologna’s famous porticos.

The location is great, very very close to the central train station. Hotel felt very posh, loved all the mirrors and aesthetic of the wall paper. Staff was friendly and professional. Wifi worked well and room was very clean. View outside was also pretty cool! Bed was nice, it had two styles of pillows which I loved. Bathroom had a bidet which was a plus! I also loved the free slippers!
